Night Rating

A Night Rating allows you to fly and carry passengers at night.

Some of the most enjoyable and relaxing flying happens after the sun goes down.  There is nothing like watching the sunset and the ground light-up from above. A night rating is a great extension to the skills learned in obtaining a Private License and opens up a new set of possibilities.

Why Not planning on flying at night?

A night rating is a big stress-reliever when flying in the afternoon. A night rating prevents the tendency and need to “race the sun home” and may allow you to spend extra worry-free hours at your destination.

Night training usually begins in the simulator, where pilots build upon their previous instrument experience to become safer and more efficient at instrument flight. Any dual instrument training has previously acquired may be counted towards the 10 required instrument hours. A maximum 5 of the 10 required instrument hours may be in the simulator, so those who have had prior experience in the simulator may need to do some of their instrument time in the aircraft.

For the flight portion of the training, 5 hours dual and 5 solo, we will teach you how to overcome the illusions and difficulties associated with night operations and build your confidence locally before heading across the Georgia Strait to Victoria for a night navigation experience.
